The Suite Life - April 2024

If you've never had a taste of the high-octane world of motorsport, you are seriously missing out. It’s fast, it’s thrilling, and it’s now more inclusive than ever. Excitement around the Australian Grand Prix gets bigger every year, and it was great to see campaigns around this year’s event weren’t limited to the stereotypical motorsport audience. This traditionally male field has widened lanes to embrace those who’ve long been excluded. Two brilliant motorsport initiatives have put the ‘you can’t be what you can’t see’ message in pole position, and I’m proud to say that two of our fabulous talent were behind the wheel.

Late last month, motorsport enthusiast and advocate for women in motorsport Kate Peck announced that she is part of a three-woman team (together with Nadine Armstrong and Rachel Reed Butler) driving the relaunched Women in Automotive, which was originally founded by the Victorian Automotive Chamber of Commerce (VACC) and is now fully independent. Women in Automotive aims to combat a lack of opportunities for women and non-binary people in the automotive industry – a much-needed endeavour.

Meanwhile, rally driver Molly Taylor, a long-time champion of women in motorsport, has announced the inaugural Girls on Track MaD Garage Scholarship. Run in association with Subaru Australia, this scholarship will give one female aged 18-24 with a passion for motorsport a dream opportunity to be part of Molly’s rally team for 2024. The successful candidate will work closely with Molly and Subaru to truly integrate themselves in the fascinating world of off-road rallying.

Away from the track, there’s lots to celebrate this month – including the launch of Dr Preeya’s new podcast Happy to Health and seeing the incredible Ellie Cole enter the I’m a Celebrity jungle as Australia's first ever person with a physical disability to take on the challenge. We're loving seeing her trademark humour and authentic nature utterly charm Australia.

Want to be part of Ellie’s success? The opportunity to become King or Queen of the jungle is based on public voting where you get to decide which celebrity goes into each trial and ultimately is saved. Voting is easy (and free) so click here to vote Ellie into a trial and click here to save her. By casting votes to save Ellie (you can vote up to 10 times per day), we can all play a part in making her the queen of the jungle and helping her raise $100,000 for her chosen charity- https://www.challenge.org.au/ -  the same charity that supported Ellie and her family through her cancer journey as a child. You can catch all of Ellie's antics Sunday to Thursday nights at 7:30pm on Network 10 and TenPlay.

And as we embrace autumn and enter the second quarter of 2024 our talent are spearheading some fantastic sustainability endeavours to celebrate Earth Month in April – you can read more about all of these initiatives below.

Whoosh – let’s go!

Til next month,

Speaking of Molly Taylor, we’d like to wish her all the luck in the world for the ARC Production Cup which kicks off this weekend April 5-7 with the Rally of Canberra. We know Molly and her team are raring to go.

Switching gears slightly, two of our talent are doing excellent work on the sustainability front. Nutrition scientist Dr Joanna McMillan is spreading the word about making environmentally friendly meal choices with seafood. She contributed extensively to the recent Sustainable Seafood Report, and glammed up to present the Awards for Sustainable Seafood in Sydney last month. And MasterChef alum Simon Toohey has teamed up with One to One Wines, a vegan, low-preservative and certified sustainable wine brand. During Earth Month, One to One Wines is planting one square metre of native bushland for every bottle sold.

Finally, it’s the podcast we’ve all been waiting for. Dr Preeya Alexander is bringing her brand of BS-free, easy-to-understand health advice to the podcast world. On Happy to Health Preeya tackles medical misinformation with the down-to-earth warmth that has made her so popular on Instagram. Husband Willy even features on the first episode – and let’s be honest, these two are dynamite together. Listen wherever you get your podcasts.

April – Earth Month

Hard-working chef Simon Toohey is also lending his culinary skills to the Australian Pears campaign, helping Aussies cut down on food waste by teaching us how to get maximum value from pears – an affordable and versatile fruit-bowl staple for autumn. This campaign is a great example of how Simon can build sustainability messages around your brand, so reach out if you’d like to engage him for Earth Month campaigns (hot tip: Earth Day is April 22).

7 April – World Health Day

Wondering how to support your teams and best promote World Health Day? We’ve got three wonderful GPs available to share advice and simple tips on how your people (whether they be customers or your teams) can stay healthier for longer. Reach out if you’d like to book Dr Ginni Mansberg, Dr Preeya Alexander or Dr Michela Sorensen to share health and wellness tips for your World Health Day awareness campaigns or events.
