The Suite Life - June 2023

Did you know that Aussie men under 75 are twice as likely to die from preventable causes as women?  It’s a shocking statistic that highlights just how far men lag behind their female counterparts. Psychiatrist Dr Kieran Kennedy and health editor Scott Henderson have committed to doing something about that, joining forces to write a brilliant book, The MANual, that helps men take charge of their health and wellbeing – and I’m thrilled to see it hitting bookstands this week.

And that’s not the only cause for celebration this month, with Molly Taylor killing it in the most recent round of the Extreme E Series – Round 4 of the Scotland Hydro X Prix - proving why she’s one of Australia’s most exciting and successful sportspeople. Read more below.

Meanwhile, our Creative Team has produced a gorgeous e-magazine for HomeMaker Central that’s given me tonnes of ideas for sprucing up my home this winter. You’ll want to get your hands on this.

Stay warm and dry,

Sim

Hot off the presses, Scott Henderson and Dr Kieran Kennedy’s book The MANual is a must-have for every man . This comprehensive and entertaining guide shares tips on everything from physical to mental health, relationships as well as advice on navigating masculinity in an ever-changing world. You can grab your copy here.

Recently chef and sustainability expert Simon Toohey had the opportunity to celebrate all that’s fun about fungi. Working with mushroom producer Fable, Simon had an absolute blast foraging and cooking up delicious fungi fare in the Southern Highlands (NSW) and Mt Macedon (Vic).

In other news, we are absolutely thrilled to announce that Paralympian, Ellie Cole, has been honoured with a prestigious Trailblazer award by Sport NSW and the Office of Sport. This Trailblazer award is a testament to Ellie's unwavering spirit and her continuous efforts to push the boundaries of what is possible. It’s a tribute to Ellie's remarkable impact, not only as an athlete but also as a role model for future generations.

Also showcasing her incredible talent is rally driver Molly Taylor, who sped to victory in the Scotland round of the Extreme E off-road racing series. In Round 4 – Sunday's event - Molly and the Veloce Racing Team led from start to finish on a wet and slippery track, and come away from the weekend at the top of the championship standings. The next round of Extreme E, a series dedicated to raising awareness of climate change and gender equality,  will be in Sardinia in July. Bring it on!

With the colder weather really starting to bite, cosying up at home has never been more appealing – and the Creative Team is here for it! We couldn’t be more delighted to share the winter issue of HMCentral Life, the fabulous e-magazine we created for Homemaker Central. It’s packed with the latest home trends, decorating ideas and lifestyle inspiration to make your winter season warm and cosy – check it out here.
