The Suite Life - October 2023

Thanks to everyone who reached out to wish TLS a happy 10th birthday recently. We’re still basking in all the love, and we’re so grateful for your support!

Since our last newsletter was so recent, I’ll keep this month’s update short. We’ve got a big announcement about a new initiative we’re spearheading (and if you were glued to the telly during the recent Women’s World Cup, we know you’ll be on board with this!) – read more below.

We’re also getting ready for World Mental Health Day and World Animal Day, and working with our clients on creative projects to help their customers leap into 2024. You can find all of the exciting details below, and as always please reach out if you’ve got feedback or questions.

Til next month,

We’re super pumped to share with you something that we’ve been working on for a while. Inspired by the success of the wonderfully impressive Ellie Cole and Molly Taylor (both incredible role models), we’re expanding our stable of talent across the areas of women in sport and women in sports media.

From the incredible highs that we’ve all experienced in the FIFA Women’s World Cup and the performance of our Aussie sportswomen all over the globe and across a range of different sports, we know the public’s appetite for women’s sport will only continue to grow and we want to do our part to support the next generation of rising stars.

On that note, we’re kicking things off with the announcement of these three remarkable women who are joining the TLS stable, with more announcements planned for later this year:

  • Tilly Kearns – a standout member of the Australian Women's water polo team with sporting pedigree and a strong and engaged social audience (including ~400K on TikTok) where she shares insights into her life and the reality of life as an athlete.

  • Mariafe Artacho del Solar – Olympian and beach volleyball champ on the road to Paris and passionate about inspiring the next generation of next female athletes.

  • Indy Thompson – a champion fisher (and marine scientist) who holds the female junior world record for landing a 267.4kg swordfish and is one of the up and coming faces in the competitive fishing world.

Speaking of outstanding sportswomen, Molly Taylor put on a strong showing in the Sardinia round of the Extreme E race last month and her team Veloce Racing is now third on the series leaderboard heading into the final double header in Chile on 2-3 December.

She has also been busy racing in the RX2e series, a rallycross competition in Europe, but will be back on home soil for the Adelaide Hills round of the Australian Rally Championships next week, where she’ll go head to head with none other than her mum – rally champ Coral Taylor, and great mate Harry Bates.

Meanwhile, Ellie Cole has announced she’ll be part of the Channel Nine commentary team for the Paris Olympics and Paralympics next year. We’re already excited!

Can you believe 2024 is almost here? Our creative team is busy helping clients prepare stories, videos and social content to help their employees and customers launch into a happier and healthier new year. If you’re planning to promote a ‘new year, new you’ message to your staff and clients over the holiday period, hit us up here. We’ve got oodles of experience in crafting messages that get serious traction just like this one.

Want to enlist one of our talent to give a dose of expert credibility to your upcoming event? Get in touch here. We’re seeing particular interest for our talent around these events:

  • World Mental Health Day – October 10. Positive psychologist Dr Tim Sharp says most of us will experience mental ill health at some stage in our lives, either directly or via a loved one. “As such, it’s totally normal not to be OK all the time,” he says. “The more we all accept this, and talk about this, the better for everyone, because stigma and shame flourish in the dark but can’t survive when brought out into the light.”

  • World Animal Day – October 4. Our resident vet Dr Claire Stevens says this is a day where we can consider how we’re contributing to the destruction of our planet and the animals in it, and focus on ways to do better. “My hero Jane Goodall once said, ‘Let us develop respect for all living things. Let us try to replace violence and intolerance with understanding and compassion.’”
