The Suite Life - September 2023

We’re still riding high after the FIFA Women’s World Cup – and I’m not sure that my heart rate has returned to normal after that electrifying quarter final against France!

All 32 teams raised the roof in a tournament that’s proven to be a watershed moment for women’s sport. With record-breaking viewing numbers and staggering merch sales, it was remarkable to see Aussies come together to back our beloved Tillies. We can’t wait to see (and be a part of) how this momentum catapults women’s sport to even greater heights. As Ellie Cole, a FIFA Beyond Greatness Champion, declares: “The Women’s World Cup brought us closer together to create a future where the pitch is truly equal and despite who scores the goal, the world cheers for everyone.” One thing’s for certain – this is not the end, it’s only the beginning.

In a victory of a different kind, two of our talent recently got married. Our favourite habit-change scientist Dr Gina Cleo eloped with her partner Mitchell Ellis, tying the knot in an intimate ceremony in Mexico, while much-loved Masterchef alum, plant-based chef and sustainability advocate Simon Toohey exchanged vows with partner Georgia Radley (we bet the food was phenomenal). Congratulations to the happy couples.

We love our dads, and Father’s Day this weekend brings a chance to remind them how much they’re loved and appreciated. Whether it’s a reliable stream of dad jokes or a kind word, having our dad back us means the world. We are also thinking of everyone missing their Dads this weekend.

And how about this warmer weather. Spring has most definitely sprung.

That’s all from me this month.

Domain is the go-to website for property, and our experts are hot property, so a TLS & Domain partnership makes perfect sense. To that end, we’re excited to announce that TLS regulars, interior stylist Carlene Duffy, building and sustainability expert Dean Ipaviz and money expert Jess Brady have signed on as Domain.com.au contributors. Keep your eyes peeled for their first columns this month, and watch this space for updates!

The fabulous Shelly Horton is never one to say no to a party, and in November she’s bringing her famous hype-girl energy to the Carnival Melbourne Cup Cruise. As host of a six-day Carnival cruise that sails from Sydney to Melbourne and includes admission to the Melbourne Cup, Shelly will make sure everyone on board has a blast. Giddy up!

Nutrition scientist Dr Joanna McMillan is also readying her sea legs for an epic voyage. In February, she’ll join Cunard’s Sporting Greats & Wellness Voyage. Departing Sydney and visiting Melbourne and Tasmania, the eight-day cruise aboard the luxurious Queen Elizabeth features high-profile athletes and wellness experts, including Brett Lee and Adam Goodes, for a series of insightful talks and bespoke activities on board and ashore on all things sport and wellness. Ahoy!

On dry land, there’s a swell of events coming up this month to promote mental health for RU OK? Day (14 September) and Women's Health Week (4-8 September) is on our doorstep. It’s not too late to lock in one of our brilliant speakers for your corporate event. Reach out for bookings here.

Dust off the barbecue and wipe down your outdoor furniture – spring is finally here. Accredited practising dietitian Jaime Rose Chambers has a delicious recipe that’s perfect for al fresco dining – try this Rump steak with green chilli sauce and roasted vegies dish.

There’s plenty more where that came from, by the way, so if you’re keen to promote healthy eating among your workers or customers, hit us up about our bank of recipes, articles and videos. Tapping into our Wellbeing Suite content library is an easy and fast way to strengthen your content offering.

And if you’re looking at your outdoor furniture and thinking it’s time for an update, we can help with that too. The spring issue of our client HomeMakerCentral.com.au’s digital magazine is out now, and it’s a treasure trove of home and garden inspo. We love helping our clients showcase their expertise in visually striking ways – check it out here.

Dr Tim Sharp wants you to get lost… in the best possible way. Part memoir and part self-help guide, Tim’s forthcoming book Lost and Found: How to Wander your Way to a Better Life, has just been announced by publisher Pantera Press. In this his most personal book to date, Tim will explain how and why getting lost – both literally (ie in nature) and metaphorically (letting our minds wander) – is so good for psychological growth. We can’t wait to get lost in this book when it’s released next year.
