The Suite Life - July 2024

It’s one thing to excel in the pool, on the track or at the net, but today’s athletes have to be so much more than just top of their game. In a content-hungry world, athletes need to be skilled at engaging with the public, enhancing outcomes for sponsors and making an impact across the media and social media alike. Women in sport today have to become brands in their own right – which isn’t easy when you’re juggling the demands of training, competitions and your personal life.

Happily, the sportswomen TLS represents are absolute champions at connecting with audiences. From rally driver Molly Taylor’s fun and inspirational partnership with Lego, to Tilly Kearns’ innovative social collabs with Volley Australia and Yo Pro, and Mariafe’s perfect pairing with Dr Hydrate, our sportswomen have got personality and commercial appeal in spades. It’s a big part of our mission to foster long-term careers that extend well beyond their athletic pursuits.

Speaking of exceptional sportswomen, we’re thrilled to welcome a new face to our talent suite: rising track-and-field star Claudia Hollingsworth. Aged just 19, Claudia sensationally broke the Under 20 Australian Record for the 800m in April this year, when she ran a PB of 1:58:40, earning herself a ticket to the Olympics. We have no doubt that Paris is just the start for this very talented young woman.

Back on home soil, our superstar TLS experts continue to kick goals and make us proud. New book releases, events, campaign activities and much, much more – you can gaze upon their brilliance below.

And finally, I'm thrilled to announce we've been nominated for the B&T Women in Media People's Choice Award for 2024. Voting is now open, so we'd love you to cast your vote. Simply scroll down the list and click the box next to my name.

Thank you. Your support means the world to us.

Til next month,

It’s been a big month for the TLS team, showcasing their expertise across a host of events and partnerships. Here are some of our highlights from June.

Firstly, congratulations to Dr Tim Sharp on the launch of his hotly anticipated book Lost and Found, which hits stores tomorrow. Lost and Found is packed with psychological insights, practical tips and personal stories from Tim’s own life to show the value of getting lost to improve resilience and mental health. It’s a book that just might change your life, so click here to order a copy

In other Dr Happy news, Tim is working with HelloFresh to help customers embrace ‘hygge’ – the Scandi term for comfort at home. With temperatures plummeting to polar levels in recent weeks, the timing couldn’t be better.

Fresh from a challenging weekend at QLD Rally and a second place at the Southern Lights Rally in New Zealand recently, motorsport queen Molly Taylor is set to tear it up across Europe in the RX2e and Extreme E series. Molly recently announced a number of new partnerships including with automotive parts brand K&N Filters and this beautiful alignment with Lego, intended to help inspire young girls to get into motorsport.

Legendary chef Simon Toohey tickled tastebuds at the Sydney and Melbourne Good Food & Wine Shows with Dilmah, and joined the Tastes of Greater Geelong as festival ambassador, headlining a farm-to-table activation at The Paddock.

On the events front, the fabulous Shelly Horton has been strutting her stuff as MC extraordinaire at Think Tank Summits Sydney and Melbourne annual EA/PA Convention, while Ellie Cole will be teaming up with partner APM for the Fraser Coast All-Inclusive Sports Festival on July 9. You can register to attend here.

Of course, it would be remiss of us not to mention the activities of our Olympic girls, who’ve been busy flying the flag for Team Australia. Water polo player Tilly Kearns has been documenting her Paris build-up on Volley Australia's social channels, and also enjoyed a stint presenting on Nine Network’s Wide World of Sport. Our beach volleyball queen Mariafe Artacho del Solar opened up about her Olympic journey on the En Route to Paris podcast, revealing to host Rowie Webster what motivates her to chase glory. We highly recommend you download it, and all episodes of this excellent podcast, to get yourself in the Olympic zone.

Plus, Tilly, Mariafe and Claudia all got plenty of laughs as guest quizmasters on Network Ten’s Have you Been Paying Attention? in recent weeks.

And for those of you who caught Ellie Cole for the emotional Australian swimming trials last month, you’ll be pleased to know she’ll be back on pool deck in Paris, keeping a watchful eye on our incredible Olympic hopefuls and no doubt sharing an inspiring and emotional moment with them too.

It might be cold outside but there’s plenty of health campaigns running to keep your teams energised. As always, our suite of experts are on hand to provide comment and insights for your events and campaigns.
